Today marks the launch of World POI Day. World POI Day is a global awareness initiative created by and for those affected by premature ovarian insufficiency, which happens when the ovaries stop working as usual before the age of 40.
POI affects around 4 in every hundred women, but women often find it takes time to be diagnosed. POI can present emotional and physical challenges, but there are treatments which can help.
The Daisy Network, the UK charity for women with POI, works to raise awareness of POI and to medical and psychological support while advancing research into treatments and causes.
