ADo you live in Manchester, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Trafford, Salford, Stockport, Wigan or Tameside? If so, please do take a few moments to comment on proposals to reduce access to NHS-funded fertility treatment in the area.
The local Integrated Care Board (ICB) has launched a consultation on the proposed changes to local fertility treatment policies, but is only offering one option for people to consider as part of this consultation, which involves reducing IVF provision across the region to just one cycle.
Although Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Manchester, Oldham and Trafford currently offer one cycle, Salford, Stockport and Wigan will all see a reduction from two cycles and Tameside will see a reduction from three cycles. It is very disappointing and will have a huge impact on people facing fertility issues.
We would urge anyone who lives in the area to complete their survey and express your feelings about this (and there is nothing to stop you completing the survey if you live elsewhere) – https://getinvolved.gmintegratedcare.org.uk/…/ivf…
The proposals are not in line with what NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) has said is clinically and cost-effective and it’s important that you get in touch and let the commissioners know what you think. Tell them what impact this would have on you, and why offering treatment for fertility problems matters.
They are also holding some drop in events where you can go to give your views. If you happen to live in any of these areas, do please consider going along and having your say https://getinvolved.gmintegratedcare.org.uk/en-GB/events
